GG23 Community Round Applications: Apply Now!

The GG23 Community Round Applications are now open, and this time, they’re introducing Grant Ships—a new framework that fosters innovation, collaboration, and competition within the grants ecosystem.

What is Grant Ships?

Grant Ships is a next-generation grants framework that refines best practices through a dynamic, iterative process. Here’s how it works:

  • Select grant programs (known as Ships) compete, collaborate, and share skills in a public arena.
  • Each Ship’s performance is evaluated by the community and designated judges.
  • Top performers are rewarded and automatically positioned for the next round.
  • This continuous cycle drives innovation and ensures impactful funding strategies.

Grant Ships Process: How It Works

Stage 1: Judge Election

  • The Community Council serves as the judges.
  • Judges evaluate applications and oversee the process.

Stage 2: Round Selection

  • Round operators submit applications on Grantships.fun instead of the governance forum.
  • Judges score applications using a rubric to assess eligibility and impact.
  • Top applicants are selected as GG Community Rounds.

Stage 3: GG23 Community Rounds

  • Selected rounds run their Community Round in GG23.
  • Impact and achievements are recorded and reviewed.
  • Performance is tracked onchain by Round Operators for transparency.

Stage 4: Review & Future Selection

  • Judges and GTC holders review each Community Round’s self-reported metrics.
  • Rounds are scored based on execution, impact, and engagement.
  • Top 3 rounds are automatically selected for the next Gitcoin Grants round.
