Gitcoin is launching a 6-month initiative to reward contributors, grow the zksync ecosystem, and drive adoption. With 5M ZK tokens allocated, this program fosters community-led growth and recognizes impactful contributions.
Scalable, Low-Cost Ethereum Transactions
ZKsync is at the forefront of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology that empowers developers with limitless scalability while preserving Ethereum’s security and decentralization. Secured by cryptographic proofs and designed for seamless interoperability, ZKsync enables the Elastic Network—a growing ecosystem of customizable rollups. This allows developers to build sovereign, highly scalable chains while maintaining Ethereum’s trustless integrity.
With its modular design, ZKsync fosters native interoperability, allows rollups to communicate efficiently and enhances composability across the ecosystem. Developers and users can benefit from its EVM-compatible, cost-effective experience while unlocking new possibilities for DeFi, gaming, and broader Web3 adoption.
zkSync Program Overview
The ZKsync Community Program is a six-month pilot initiative funded by the ZKsync Foundation and executed by Gitcoin. It aims to reward contributors, engage the community, and refine a long-term incentive structure. This program incentivizes a wide range of contributions—from community engagement to security and ecosystem development—giving participants a say in shaping its future through feedback and governance.
As the first initiative of its kind, this program will serve as a blueprint for recognizing and rewarding community contributions over time. Insights from this pilot will inform a governance proposal for a sustainable, community-driven incentive model aligned with ZKsync’s long-term growth and decentralization vision. Transparency will be maintained through monthly retrospectives, forum discussions, and iterative improvements based on community feedback.
With over 5 million ZK tokens allocated for distribution over the next six months, the ZKsync Grants Program ensures that active community contributors are recognized and rewarded monthly based on their engagement and impact.
The 5M+ ZK tokens will be distributed across two rounds:
1. Proactive Incentives
Designed to encourage ongoing contributions, this initiative rewards impactful community roles, including:
- Community Moderators – Foster active discussions and enforce community standards.
- Language Moderators – Support non-English speaking members (eligible for rewards from the second month).
- zkMentor Captains & Mateys – Lead education, onboarding, and engagement across Discord and social media.
- Rewards are performance-based, ensuring that the most committed contributors receive incentives. Engagement metrics, Discord analytics, and sentiment analysis tools will track participation and effectiveness. (120 spots available)
2. Retroactive Rewards
To acknowledge past contributions, top-performing community members who supported the ecosystem between Jan 1, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024 will receive rewards for their impact in:
- Security – Identifying and preventing scams or vulnerabilities.
- Engagement – Hosting events, creating content, and driving discussions.
- Support – Assisting new members and fostering community growth.
- These rewards align with the proactive incentives model, ensuring a seamless transition toward a fully engaged and rewarded community.
It is all about fairness, supporting those who help build, engage, and grow the community.
